Joy and Misery

Joy and Misery by Robert G. Parent

Joy and Misery
Those lovers walk hand in hand
Along the beach
In Summer's end.

To dare to dream
In a world of darkness
Trying to let your light shine
While others tell you what to do.

The seed trapped in the ground
Dreams of something more
Using its will, pushes towards
The warm earth.

Time moves on
Season to season
Patiently the seed pushes
Until the higher light seen.

To begin its true journey
In the new world just begun
To contribute a verse
In the great poem of life .

The seed, the first thought
Trying to understand itself
In all the experiences of life...
Ah, Joy and Misery.
