Poet's Notebook
quotes from http://www.christmas-quotes.com/

What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.
--Ralph Waldo Emerson

`Why, it isn't possible,' said Scrooge, `that I can have slept through a whole day and far into another night. It isn't possible that anything has happened to the sun, and this is twelve at noon.'
-- Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol"

Let us remember that the Christmas heart is a giving heart, a wide open heart that thinks of others first. The birth of the baby Jesus stands as the most significant event in all history, because it has meant the pouring into a sick world of the healing medicine of love which has transformed all manner of hearts for almost two thousand years... Underneath all the bulging bundles is this beating Christmas heart.
--George Mathhew Adams

There is no ideal Christmas; only the one Christmas you decide to make as a reflection of your values, desires, affections, traditions.
--Bill McKibben, Author, Hundred Dollar Holiday: The Case For a More Joyful Christmas

What do you call people who are afraid of Santa Claus? Claustrophobic.
--Unknown
Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.
--Norman Vincent Peale

Christmas, children, is not a date. It is a state of mind.
--Mary Ellen Chase

Time was with most of us, when Christmas Day, encircling all our limited world like a magic ring, left nothing out for us to miss or seek; bound together all our home enjoyments, affections, and hopes; grouped everything and everyone round the Christmas fire, and make the little picture shining in our bright young eyes, complete.

Now how did the machines know what Tasty Wheat tasted like, huh? Maybe they
got it wrong. Maybe what I think Tasty Wheat tasted like actually tasted

chicken taste like which is why chicken tastes like everything!

May Your light shine
from Robert G. Parent
to all of you

Becoming November 27, 2004

-- Christmas facts from the Christmas Encyclopedia web site
http://www.santaschool.com/facts.htm

-- What is winter Solstice and the celebrations that go with them thanks to the web site http://www.circlesanctuary.org/pholidays/SolsticeArticle.html

-- My poetry: Any which way, The Wisdom of Winter, Caught in between, Snowfall

Many people celebrate this time of year. There is more celebrations this month alone then any other month in the year. In the northern part of this Earth, this is the darkest day or the shortest day of the year, and a lot of celebrations celebrate with lights and candles. It is like we have been trying to remember the light. I've taken this to a next step and have used the symbols of the season to understand the light that is within us. It doesn't matter what religious beliefs that you or your neighbor have. All that counts is the light that is within you and your neighbor. The physical passes on and changes as the leaf through the seasons. In spring, it's a bud. Maturity comes in the summer. Autumn's colors shows the wisdom of age. In winter is the return to the source where both nourish each other. So in this season, instead of saying your usually greetings say “may your light shine”.

Hope you enjoy the show.

A Special Christmas Message
by Robert G. Parent

I know a lot of people don't celebrate Christmas as there are other types of celebrations in this coming month. However. let us see this time as what it is, a celebration of light in the darkness. And let us all light a candle instead of curseing the darkness. The season of light has begun.

Remembering part II
by Robert G. Parent

The Light of Death
by Robert G. Parent

March winds blow
accross the bare landscape.
Stripped of all their beauty,
the trees bend to the will of the wind.
The tall human structures
stand silient and lifeless.
The stars look down
on the bare landscape
and winks.
The man on the moon
smiles down on the reverance
of the trees to the wind.
The sun warms the human
structures, giving life to them.
The march winds
reminds all of the light
of death and
celebrates the oneness of rebirth.

Ancient Highways
By JJ Dewey
The feet of the Lord await
To walk upon the earth of those ancient lands
In Iraq, In Israel, In Iran and in Afghanistan
In all the lands of the Middle East
In all the countries of the earth
But the door to freedom first
Has to swing open wide
In that ancient land, which was first
And is now last,
But will be first again.
He searched with piercing eye
For one with power to help who was willing
Willing to take the steps to subdue evil
And plant the seeds of freedom.
Willing to be hated by the world in place of the Master.
Finally, the day of opportunity came.
A leader dropped to his knees
Realizing that his own wisdom was not enough
"What shall I do?" he asked of his God.
"I did not ask for war, but if war is forced upon me
I will go if you approve."
The Master heard the words of humble prayer
"Go my son, for in righteousness do I judge and make war
To give the lives of the few to insure
The freedom of the many is Right-Use.
The human heart eternally cries for freedom
Which is more important than the extension of physical life.
"Garner as much human will as possible
Behind the endeavor
To set up an Ensign to the Nations in the Mid East
So the Son of Man who is the Son of God
Can tread the ancient highways once again.
That the Hope of the Nations can manifest to the world."

See, see the Loving sky
Marvel at its big sky blue depths.
Tell me, Marcus do you
Wonder why the Moose ignores you?
Why its foobly stare
makes you feel hung over.
I can tell you, it is
Worried by your Zarblac facial growth
That looks like
A coffee.
What's more, it knows
Your bloody potting shed
Smells of Pea.
Everything under the big Loving sky
Asks why, why do you even bother?
You only charm christmas trees.

Cool Autumn Evening
by Robert G. Parent
from the book, "A Soul's Journey"

The full moon has captured our imagination. It is like we remember something from the past. It is said from stories of the past that the moon used to be a part of this planet when it used to be bigger than it was. The moon has captured our imagination and increases our creativity. Maybe because the moon is a symbol of light in the darkness, which is that thing within us that creates new -- the soul. The light of the soul shines through the darkness of the physical reality.

Our political system is really a miracle. We have a choice in every four years as to the direction that our country will take. The Iraqi people will know how this feels now. So I'd like to say thank you to the President and all of our armed forces for bringing democracy to an area of the world that has seen much violence. Freedom is not just a word to us.
