A day off from work is what I needed at this point. Sometimes work can just be, well, work. I sit here listening to WGIR in the morning, my fan on me, while I type out these words and wonder about those people that need to have two or three jobs. You'd think that their stress level has to be high. That at any point they will crack, get a nervous break down, or ingest addictive substances. Do they see the day as something beautiful? The subtle changes of the seasons pass by us and teach us about life and how it is supposed to flow -- work, play, relaxation, sleep. We as humans need time to think and to ponder on what it is we see going on in life. As we ponder, we create new thoughts, which lead to new directions, which create new opportunities. All of our lives problems have solutions. We just need to slow down, ponder, and see the new direction and walk down a new path.
Sometimes I wonder if people know what life is really about. Where is our spiritual growth? In this country of the United States of America, we have freedom of religion and take our spiritual growth on many different paths but I wonder, when I hear news stories on TV...about the spirituality of Americans. This recession that we've been in for some time shouldn't have lasted as long as it does. People live too much in fear. Everyone is cutting but, in a recession we need to expand business because it is business that brings the money into our lives and into our government. It is true that we need to put government in its proper place and not expand it unless we expand business the same amount or more. It is truly and interesting time. I wonder where we will go from here.

I'm sitting here at 8 o'clock at night listening to the crickets chirp outside my window. Cars float by barely making a sound going to who knows where.
Ten years ago today a disaster no one has ever seen. Four planes, one aimed at the White House, one aimed at the Pentagon, and two aimed at the World Trade Center's tallest buildings. Four planes controlled by those who don't respect life, including their own.
How are we supposed to morn those lost souls taken from us before their time? Still after hearing audio from that time makes me cry for those lost souls and those they left behind.
What can we do? Do we hate, Love, or Forgive what happened on that day ten years ago? Each person in those buildings had to know at some point they were going to die, to not enjoy the beauty, the magic of this world. I want to know if some of them cried, or yelled at the injustice shaking their hands toward the sky, or did they have a chance to call their loved ones left behind and tell them one more time how much they loved them.
What can cause someone to kill, and even kill in the name of religion or some unseen God? What type of training did they receive as children, being born and growing up into a place full of hate and much ugliness? Is it any wonder these children grow up as they do in a world without love, not respecting themselves or any life. Maybe we should pray for healing for those lost children so the future will not see another disaster as the one that happened on September 11, 2001.
Love is such a powerful energy. It brings people together. It opens up doors for a promising future. It shows people what their true potential can be.
The sadness of that day continues and multiplies in its abundance. I sit here on a quiet night and wonder, when will the cycle be broken. A tear rolls down my cheek; I bow my head in silence; I remember.

Reclaim our Power and become Balanced
Reclaim our Power and become Balanced by Robert G Parent
The governments of the world want you to die. The Carbon Tax is a tax on your breath. In basic science, which I learned in grade school, wonder if they still teach this, tells us we breath out carbon dioxide and breath in oxygen from trees. The last country that taxed the air was Great Britain, who taxed Ireland in the past. Well, we know how that turned out.
In a well balanced society there are some taxes that go to the government to pay for the shared expenses that help make this country run smoothly. But, that is the keyword "balance". With the National Government getting more and more powerful and away from the individual, we have become a nation of tyranny by the sound bite. We need to reclaim more power by the individual states as long as people stay involved in their local policies.
We have to remember what made this country great, the advances we made in manufacturing, the inventions that make life easier, and the Internet that gave us access to knowledge and information which we haven't had in the past. It is this spirit of self discovery that binds us together as a strong community that is able to overcome any challenge, to learn and grow from it. We need to reclaim our power, so we can once again balance our lives, our businesses, and our spirit.

Living is in the journey
Living is in the journey by Robert G Parent
The Summer is almost over. The leaves will change their color. The weather will get colder. The drive-ins where we get burgers, fries, ice cream, and seafood will close, be boarded up and, wait for the new crop of Christmas Trees to come in.
We get so programmed of living a life based on the season that we currently live in, instead of seeing what each season is trying to teach us. Do you spend time in each season just observing the flowers in the meadow, the frog by the pond, the colorful foliage in the park, or the frosty landscape of the mountains?
Why do we go so fast into the next season? We worry about not having a better car, a new home, or a better paying job. No wonder we are a nation, a world under stress. We speed to the end of our lives without enjoying the creamy middle. I believe that it was some wise person who said many, many years ago, maybe even a galaxy far away, that life is in the journey and not the destination. Face it. We are all going toward the same place. What is your hurry?

How to Write a Book
Writing Fiction & Poetry : How to Write a Book or Story
How to Write a Book
Hey all, You Tube is great. You never know what you'll find there. Here is an awesome video that explains the basics to writing a book. I think the idea about writing a page a day good one. Also, I think that the question that he asked "why do you want to write?" is a good one as well. Knowing the why will either keep you writing or help you pursue something else. I think an equally valid question is "Who do you want to be?" Because for anyone to have any success in any venture they have to BE someone and DO the work necessary to HAVE the amount of success that comes in that area. But whatever you do decide to DO, I hope that you DO stay creative in the magic of life.

A Crack in Reality
This is happening all around the United Socialist States of America. Yes people things are so bad that reality as we know it is being threatened. We are being taken over by aliens -- the bad kind of course because the good ones don't want to get involved and be locked into our karmic system.
What can we do about this dire situation. We cannot use our vote because, well we just had one. So now what? Is this the end of the world as we know it? We were supposed to be the hope of the world. We were supposed to show the world the value of the free state and a free people. We are so much in debt that our grand-children's grand-children will have to pay the cost of our over indulgent behavior. They will be the slaves of the new world run by aliens. Was this the plan of the aliens all along from way back in the last millennium where every president raised our national debt a little at a time until now? They are using the oldest strategy on Earth -- cooking a live frog in a pot of water on a stove strategy.
So people, put on your tin foil hats so the aliens cannot read your minds and make that connection to your soul so we can all be one and think for ourselves. When we start thinking for ourselves and making the wise decisions in the spirit of oneness, then and only then will we be able to remove the aliens in power. Because if they cannot control how we think anymore, they cannot harm us and our way of life. We then will be the saviours of the world.

what we need is to get the momentum of the Libertarian Party rolling.

A new seed planted
by Robert G Parent
It is important for all Americans to unite behind true ideas,
to give our energies, our hope, and our faith to a national idea that is truely by the people and for the people. It is not a time of separation. It is a time of unity. Our founding fathers call out to us from the halls of history to take our country back to the spirit of the constitution, water that seed, and grow a new future for our children's children. It is our duty to honor life, liberty, and the pursuit of hapiness for the greater freedom for not just Americans, but all creations within the body of God.

How we Vote
How we vote
by Robert G Parent
Below is a quote from a yahoo group I'm apart. It was just a quote posted on the forum. It got me thinking about politics and how people vote. People in this country tend to vote on emotion and not looking at the facts of what all the candidates values are. We can know what kind of president, senator, governor, or any other elected official is by looking back on their history. What did they vote on? What mistakes they made (we all make them)? Did they learn from their mistakes? We in this country need to start voting differently. We need to ask questions like these. All politicians promise us the world. They play on our emotions. And we continue to be chained to this cycle until we decide to vote differently. Do something different then we've done in the past. It's time that more people in this country take the responsibility to make this country an even better place for all. we take our freedom for granted and give our power away to the flavor of the day. We (all of us) must decide where we want to go, where we want our country to move to and honor our founding fathers for the dream, the light in a darken world that they made possible 200 years ago. This time is ours. Will we be lead by our emotions or something higher?
"A bill he has sponsored in the U.S. Senate, the so-called Global Poverty Act
(S. 2433), would raise the amount of American tax dollars allocated to United Nations’ redistribution efforts to $845 billion.
That’s $2,500 from every American taxpayer, when many in our country already are struggling to make ends meet.
And if you think taxes and energy costs are high now, wait until Obama’s global energy and production taxes are made law by the Nancy Pelosi/Harry Reid-run Democrat Congress.
Is this what Pelosi meant when she said, “I’m trying to save the planet! I’m trying to save the planet!
Senator Obama and the Democrats don’t seem to understand that American prosperity is a result of the hard work of American citizens in a free market economy. And that the American people already are the most generous in the world when it comes to global aid.
Help us show Barack Obama that Americans don’t need foreign approval to lead their lives as they see fit, and that he ought to remember that he is running for president of the United States, not the United Nations."

Light in the Darkness
Light in the Darkness
by Robert G Parent
I want to talk about the times we live in now, everyone is saying recession, tough economic time, job market, housing markets, stock markets are down. All people see is the darkness that is out there. Well maybe not all people, there are those in the financial business that understand cycles. Who say, there is opportunity out there. I say they are right.
I'm out of a job currently and have been looking for one, for the past two weeks now. And you know, there are many jobs out there. There are companies still growing and need good people, which they have plenty to choose from. I've been interviewed for jobs in companies that lead to management ( Leadership ) positions. I've been thinking about leadership and management for some time now and didn't realize those types of jobs until now, until I was jobless at my percieved lowest place. I have a better chance to get into a better job, and it looks like that whatever is my next job. It will lead to leadership. There is light in the darkness. Or, maybe it's best said, when you shine a light on your darkness, your fears, and see what is really there, you also see opportunity.
You can be at the very bottom, at least from your point of view, in the metiphorical pit of darkness, and look around, shine a light on the darkness, you will see the opportunity out there. It can lead you out of the capitivity, the captivity of our fears, to a new land, a new place. Because its when you perceive yourself to be at your lowest that you can soar among the clouds. What it all boils down to is where do you want to put your attention, in the bucket of Crabs or soaring with the Eagles. The choice is always ours.

Too many choices or not many choices
Too many choices or not many choices
by Robert G Parent
I've been listening to a few podcasts talk about the problem of not being able to keep up on all the pieces of information we all have to monitor.
There are a few misconceptions people have. First in listening to podcasts they've subscribed to, second in reading newsletters, and third in watching shows on cable. People have this idea that if a podcast, newsletter, or show comes out on a regular basis like once a week they have to watch or read it every week. But RSS, subsciption services, Tivo, VCRs, DVD recorders let us watch and read the shows on our scedules when we feel like it.
I'm subscribed to many podcasts. I lost count after 150.
I check out a few forums and groups on the Internet.
I listen to audio books and podiobooks.
I watch cable, movies, and read.
I don't do all of this everyday or every week. I like variety. So sometimes I listen to podcasts, sometimes cable, movies, reading a book, an article or magazine. Sometimes I listen to audio books and sometimes podiobooks. Sometimes I even play Cubis Gold ( my latest addition ). And many times, I watch videos all night on You Tube.
So what's my point. Would you want fewer choices and get bored with nothing else to do or have many choices to learn about yourself and the world around you. In this new age we are living, we need to learn to balance. Balance in our work, home, schooling, and play. And if we can do this, I believe the stress level in society will go down because we would enjoy the fullness in life.

Transition Change
Transition Change
by Robert G Parent
download Transition Change
This article is 8 minutes.
Just started the new opportunity. I have a business now, doing the same thing I did at my job. There is a strange feeling within me. It doesn't feel like doubt. It's a good I guess. It's like everything has changed, the path taken, the choice made, I wonder if this is how transition feels.
I was anxious in antisapation, but after receiving that, the excitement went down. Its not a disapointment. its just real. It just is.
My logical side sees the potential and understands the reason for the change.
Its something so different then I'm used to, maybe that is the feeling, the feeling of new pathways being built in the mind. It's like eating a new piece of food that your not sure you will like.
I'm diffently in for a major growth experience.
The first time you tried coconut milk.
The first time you tried Guinness.
The first time you inhaled cigarette smoke.
The first time y0u heard your baby cry.
The first time you moved into your own apartment.
The first time you went to school.
The first time you bought a house.
All these are major life changing experiences.
All my jobs of the past, I had for a long time, and I punched a time clock. I don't anymore.
This is what life's about.
This also brings me to a show on the internet I listen to, "Cloudy Day Art", in this episode Will Brown talked with Thom Ingram ( the Poet Guru ) about different poetic forms writers should know, while I agree with a lot of what they said, I was thinking that there is more. It wasn't until this journal entry and this current meditation that I realized an important truth. While poetic form is important, the most important concept is breathing life into your work, whatever work it is ( not just writing ). To understand that statement, meditate on why writers write -- to help understand life -- and is why people read, to expand their life's experience. That is what makes any work inspirational.
One example of inspirational work ( beside my writing ) is the United States Constitution. Why? Because it expands our life's experience. When the Constitution of the United States was written, it was totally different from conventional thoughts of how "things were done." It introduced a new way of thinking, of doing, of being.
I'd like to get back to the interview Will did with Thom and add, when a person wants to learn poetry they should remember these three idea.
1. Just write. Take their life's experience about something that is currently going through their life and write about it.
2. See what is there. What questions keep coming up? What feelings? What thoughts?
3. Use the tools you already know as a person living in your country.
Lanuage -- Words. Invest in a dictionary or thesaurus. Pick out words that stick out for you. There is a reason that they do.
Feelings -- work to understand what and why you're feeling at the moments that stand out in your life. Truly great and inspirational works ( writing, songs, art, painting, photos... ) understand this tool.
Write for the ear. If it sounds good for you chances are it will sound good for someone else. Use words, punctuation, pauses and dashes to bring up feelings, thoughts, and ideas out to you reader. Describe don't tell. You will hear this in all good creative writing classes. What this does is it opens up a door to your reader to bring in their own thoughts, feelings, ideas, quesitons, and life expression. Another technique to this tool is to ask someone you trust to read or listen to your work and ask them quesitons. The answers will help you judge if you accomplished your goal. Remember, to truly have a multi-dimensional piece, you should get as many people you trust with different thoughts, ideas, feelings, and life experience then yours.
Once you do this for at least 1 to 3 years, then look into the many poetic forms and continue your play, your exploration.
A good book is "An idiot's guide to writing poetry" by Nikki Moustaki. But, don't read it cover to cover. Use it as a reference book like the dictionary or thesaurus. Browse and notice what poetic forms come up or what your attracted to in the moment.
In closing, some people get tied into the mechanics of writing or in doing any other work, that they forget about the why. The reason why we write poetry or do anything is to expand our life's experience and come to understand our Point Of View, our questions. And if we can understand ourselves, we can understand others. Always look for new tools, new experiences, new expressions not just in poetry but in you life.
I wrote this article as a journal entry trying to understand a feeling and look where it developed into.

download Transition Change

Hey all, I wanted to put up a music poetry show for my third anniversary of this online journey I started on July 4th, 2004. But I don't have time to get the show up by tomorrow. However, the next show will be the anniversary show.
It looks like I'm going to celebrate my 3rd anniversary by movies. I have three movie reviews that looking back make a story. So, I'm posting them in the order that I watched them with the Transformers movie last because I just came from it. I waited awhile for the movie and it was worth the wait. Can I just say awesome!
Some thoughts about this anniversary and why I started this journey that I have come to now call “the exploration of Creativity”. Writing for me has always been a learning experience. I learning experience of what lays around the corner, of what is on the other side of the blackness you see when you look up in the night sky, and of what mysteries the soul has to share. I have said that the only being that can teach you about poetry is poetry and that is true but it is also true about the creative force that is within all life -- in our art, music, stories, poems, buildings, machines, programs, and anything else in which we express ourselves.
I had not known where this journey would take me ( I still don't know ) but that doesn't matter because life is in the journey not the destination an old saying with much truth in it. And another jewel I came to discover on this journey. I don't know where the journey will go but I know one thing the roller coaster ride is not over and the exploration of Creativity has still more to teach me. Thank you all for joining me in the ride Let's see where it will lead us.

Who are You
Who are you?
By Robert G Parent
Sometime I get to a point where I start to question my life, my choices, where am I going – NO I am not going through a mid life crisis. I wonder why people call it that? I've noticed, at least for me, that the questioning, wondering, pondering happens more than once in my life. I talk about cycles in much of my poems and that is because I know we go through many cycles in a lifetime – cycles upon cycles, to put it into more poetic terms.
The questioning phase is a part of the cycles we go through. And for me, it is usually when I do a lot of writing, even though I'm always writing something or doing some creative work. How can I not? After all, this is why we're here on Earth, to create. Anyway, getting back to the questioning phase. I do a lot of writing in that phase but usually it's a different kind of writing. It's about, or part of, a growth cycle experience, and as creative people – we all go through.
“Who we are” is a question that keeps changing. At different places in our life, we are different people, focused on different problem, philosophies, and do different patterns. We move from one way of thinking to another way of thinking. Have you every thought of why we do that? What are we growing toward? What makes us change? Is it because we don't want to be bored that we keep creating experiences? Here is an exercise: Look back at your life, if you've kept a journal great, read though it. Notice where you've started to question stuff. What experiences where you having at that time? If you haven't kept a journal, this could be a great time to start. Go through your memories. Ponder on what problems you were going through. How has that changed your philosophy? Ask yourself how have you grown through that problem or experience? You can also look at your family and friends and mentally put yourself in their shoes ( so to speak ); How has their problems or experiences shaped their philosophy? Write this out in your journals. This exercise will not only give you insight into your own philosophy, but will help you understand other people and how we come into a belief system or our philosophy.
Here is another challenge for those brave enough to accept it. If you are a Democrat, put yourself in Republican shoes. If you are a Republican, put yourself in Democrat shoes. What experiences shaped their philosophies? You can also do this for any gender or people ( nationality ).
We are who how we think of our experiences. This shapes our Point of View. This helps bring life into our writing. This helps keep the Creative Juices rolling by giving us content, experience, and growth that opens us up to a bigger world, a bigger picture filled with more possibilities to create and create again. Through creating, we discover who we are emotional, mentally and spiritually. And, this is the foundation to all our writing and creative works.
