The Golden Compass Movie Review
here is the trailer.
if you like Harry Potter and similar types of fantasy, you will love this movie. A girl on a quest to save the children, herself, and her father. This story has all the special effects that you expect to see in a fantasy movie. The sound track is awesome too. This movie takes place in a parallel Earth where witches, polar bear people, animal totems or our souls who live next to each other and are as real as what we see in this reality of Earth. The movie flowed nicely and did not have any slow parts of back story that can tend to drag a movie down. The history of the story was nicely done in the adventure of the quest. Yes, it has all the usually elements to a quest story but at the same time it is an excellent story realitive to this time we live. Jesus said a little child shall lead you and she does into a new understanding of freedom. However, there are some who want to be in control of the masses. The quest and the first battle to freedom has began.
This movie is all about the magic that we all have within us. I give this movie a five out of five star rating. Go see the movie and witness a classic in the making.

“Transformers” movie review

My first expression after seeing the movie is awesome. What a ride. But whenever you go for a ride with a Transformer, you are headed for an awesome adventure. Going to the movie, I was singing the Transformer's song in anticipation and was not disappointed.
This movie is truly and action movie. The visual and special effects were awesome. They even managed to put comedy into the movie, which got the audience laughing. The theater was full and its a good idea they had it showing in two theaters on two screens.
There were moments where I was on the edge of my seat. ( I rarely do that at movies. ) The special effects crew did an awesome job when the Transformers transformed into robots. They had to use some models with cgi, I guess. Oh, and when the Transformers talked it sounded like a Transformer's voice. Also, the basic storyline was a good one. One of a first movie in a series. Hopefully there is more to come.
The idea of bringing what we know and take for granted to a higher place in our imagination. Movies and stories like this give me hope that there is greatness in the human soul, thought, and imagination. It is the stories we write, watch, and read that stimulates our imagination and what we can one day become.
One final thought I want to make about the movie is its music. It was great and followed the action of the movie and drove, or helped drive the audience into that story. A movie that manages to do this to me is a good one in my opinion and is best to be seen on the big screen.

What can I say, it's an action movie but not only an action movie a “Die Hard” movie. This movie truly lives up to its namesake. One thing that I would like to say about this movie is the topic, the main idea of the movie. It takes the fears of a terrorist and puts them up on the big screen as a probability of what could happen but probably will not happen. A good movie of the times is a movie that use the knowledge that we know and expand upon it in a new way – this is what creativity is all about.
In this movie, they use a term called “fire sale” which describes away to take down the countries defenses. Even though there are errors in this thinking it gives our imagination something to hold onto and take us on a possible future outcome. The journey itself is what changes us and this movie has that ability, which is why I think this is a great movie to see. Will this movie really happen, will this give terrorist ideas, or is this movie just an awesome roller coaster ride.
What makes a movie good? Action, problem solving, elevating our fears, maybe its just about the money.

Stories not only take us to adventures in outer space but in our minds, by not only stimulating our imagination but taking us to a place where we can just be. Awesome experience overall.
Who cannot love the main characters, including Jessica Alba. I loved her in her role in “Dark Angel” but as Susan Storm, let's just say I'm not disappointed either. However, I'm left with one question, Is she better looking as a blond or brunet. I don't know.
The Fantastic four not only saved the world but can plan a wedding at the sametime.
At the beginning, we get a glimpse of their personal lives didn't slow the movie down but added another flavor to the movie and an overall question that they ponder on through the whole movie – can you still have a life and family while your famous?
The humor was done well in the movie. Humor can be tricky to do but when it comes out of the flow of the story, settings, and scenes it is good and everyone laughed when it came to the comedy parts because it came out of the natural flow of the story. To bad Stan Lee couldn't get into the wedding of Mr. Fantastic and Susan Storm. Maybe he'll get into the wedding of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson. Yes, the humor was well done throughout the movie.
The wedding and the beginning of the story added a different flavor, but when the action started to rise was like a roller coaster of emotion, action, and special effects. If any of you are waiting for the DVD, don't, the big screen experience is the best way to see this movie, with of course a group of friends or an audience filled with enthusiastic, rowdy people.

Hey all, I wanted to put up a music poetry show for my third anniversary of this online journey I started on July 4th, 2004. But I don't have time to get the show up by tomorrow. However, the next show will be the anniversary show.
It looks like I'm going to celebrate my 3rd anniversary by movies. I have three movie reviews that looking back make a story. So, I'm posting them in the order that I watched them with the Transformers movie last because I just came from it. I waited awhile for the movie and it was worth the wait. Can I just say awesome!
Some thoughts about this anniversary and why I started this journey that I have come to now call “the exploration of Creativity”. Writing for me has always been a learning experience. I learning experience of what lays around the corner, of what is on the other side of the blackness you see when you look up in the night sky, and of what mysteries the soul has to share. I have said that the only being that can teach you about poetry is poetry and that is true but it is also true about the creative force that is within all life -- in our art, music, stories, poems, buildings, machines, programs, and anything else in which we express ourselves.
I had not known where this journey would take me ( I still don't know ) but that doesn't matter because life is in the journey not the destination an old saying with much truth in it. And another jewel I came to discover on this journey. I don't know where the journey will go but I know one thing the roller coaster ride is not over and the exploration of Creativity has still more to teach me. Thank you all for joining me in the ride Let's see where it will lead us.

Movie Review for "300"

Movie Review for "300"

The Movie was visually stunning. It didn't have special effects like science fiction movies that I like to see, however; the visual/special effects were wonderful. All the lighting effects come together in a feast for the eyes -- the lighting, the special effects, the battle scenes, the costumes of the monsters.
This movie was about an epic battle in the history of our world where the people of the time got a taste of freedom. Its poetic nature tied that moment and this moment together. This movie came at the right time for us to remember that every once in awhile a threat to our freedoms come. And in order for us to keep our freedom, we need to defend that freedom by those who would want to keep us as slaves. All the elements to the movie added to the poetic-ness of the movie -- the acting, the visual effects, the dialog, and the music. One layer helped the other layers to be savored like a good sandwich. There is even a wisdom that flows throughout the movie.
The dialog was a mix, or mash-up, of a narrator, dialog, the lines, the writing style. You could have closed your eyes and listened to the movie and still understand the story. Or a poet could get up and read the lines, dialog, of this epic to a crowd of people. The words were just "tasty" and very expressive, very real.
I also saw how the movie relates to what is going on in the world at this time and is what this country needs at this time of tribulation. As we are today, on many levels, fighting for our freedom. They, as us, have a choice to be passive slaves or strong, loving free men. Of course, there is a cost to being free men, which was shown in the movie in a variety of ways. This movie shows, just like now, the difference between being a slave or free men and that free men fighting for the idea of freedom will always win out over slaves being whipped by the propaganda of their masters for the good of their masters and not the good of the whole. I just want to add a separate note here. If the terrorists truely had a message, they could talk about it using the tools we all enjoy -- the Internet, computers, and blogging software. But the message they show the world is through their actions -- the message of Power, Anger, Fear, Aggression, these are the path of the Dark Side. Every so often in history there is a group of people that try to control everyone in the world and hold onto the old ways of thinking, doing, or being. But when that happens another group of people rise up protecting the idea of freedom and the truth of change.
The visual effects just added to the poetic feeling. The sunsets and sunrises, the fog, the lighting all added to the feeling of a magical time just before a major change in the way of thinking, doing, or being. Again, its like the time that we live in now. This is also a magical time before major changes that are trying to take place, to manifest. All the clues that we are entering a new age are there if we are willing to see them. Change is happening and that is why there is a lot of tribulation in the world of modern time. Different ways of thinking, of doing, of being are entering our consciousness. And there are a lot of people still holding onto the old ways of thinking, of doing, and being.
I have to get the soundtrack. The music added to the whole feeing behind the poetic-ness. As the scenes, the action, and the dialog played, they played the right music to enhance the feelings trying to be expressed on the screen.
I think the movie was better than the "Matrix" movies. I loved the Matrix movies, mostly for the martial arts and new age philosophies. The dialog though in the Matrix movies between the everyday characters was not as inspiring as in "300." In "300", the dialog had more real wisdom between all characters. The Matrix movies were more flashy. I mean the Burley Brawl, where all the Agent Smiths were coming at Neo was awesome. But the battle scene with 300 Spartans willing to live and die for freedom, to take on, at this time, the biggest army in the world, the :Persians, who used all sorts of tricks to win is awesome squared.
I don't know if it was intended by the writers, but I also see Sparta like the United States ( maybe it just my mind making connections ). But I see its like the United States in this new age, a new freedom is coming into this world at this time. In the movie, the battle was not only on the battle field but in the polical arena with their own political warriors. The movie also had a charcter, a deformed Spartan, who is a poetic element because he choose or was persuaded by the power and glory instead of the new freedom coming into the world. Putting that character into the movie added another flavor to the experience of the movie. A character who would rather go the path of least resistence, the path of comfort other than fighting for the new idea. In many ways, people take for granted the freedom we enjoy. I think we should be thankful for this freedom and fight even harder for it and all those who decide to want it as well.
Some extra thoughts I want to add about the movie. The movie was violent, obviously being about an epic battle for freedom. If you don't like to see blood, body parts, and cinema boobies, then this movie is not for you. However, I don't see any wrong with showing all these things. All those elements add to the whole experience, poetic-ness of the movie. Poems have been written about battle, about love, about boobies, about passionate love. The love scene in the movie was very passionate -- I could feel it. The reason I think the movie is poetic is because it had all the poetic elements to it, very visceral, very real. Poetry is all about the real, no matter what your style of poetry, including mine about the soul or the unseen around us. There is realness there, real experiences about life. Poetry is about life.
My overall movie experience was awesome. The movie had all the elements to a successful movie -- the dialog, good acting, visual effects, the music. Everything was layered to be savored like a good meal for the soul.
This is not the format of the last movie review, but I think you know now how I feel about this movie. Some more things I want to add, the movie theater was packed full when I went. I've also been hearing about people seeing the movie six and seven times. i've also heard that there is conterversy about the movie. I have not the time to look into this contervsy but if its on the web, a search engine will take you there.

Hey all, I'm still working on my shows for this week. I have gathered all the elements. I just got to find a block of time to do the shows. I did finish transcribing my notes for the movie I went to go see "300" . Future movies I plan on seeing are "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" current in theaters this week. Doctor Who
Hey all here is some Doctor Who while you're waiting for the next show, which I hope to be done this weekend. Since I expanded the time for the show I will only be doing about two a month as not to overwhelm you or me. I am doing this so I can go over and partisipate in the APP forems ( more often ) at poetry podcasting dot net, or just click on the APP logo on this website.
I also watched the movie "300" -- Awesome movie. The way the movie was done reminded me of an epic poem. I will record the review for "300" this weekend as well. It will be posted in a separate post.
This video was sent to me and I love it. It is another great example of creativity.
You could call this a video mashup or a music video. As I said that, I got an awesome idea, have all you poets out their thought about doing a poetry music video? or how about this, partnering up with an artist on the Podsafe Music Network to create a video project, it would be great for you and the artist in getting your work out. April is poetry month. How about doing something different for this month.

"Eragon" Review by Robert G Parent
"Eragon" Review

This is 6 minutes long.
I just got out of the movie "Eragon" and had to write my first impressions. "Awesome". Coming out of the movie, I felt like I did after watching "Star Wars: A New Hope." "Eragon" stirred up something within me. I think the word is "Purpose". One boy and his dragon with the right doses of bravery, courage, and heart.
I think they did justice to the books . Well, at least the first one. I hadn't read the other books in the series but will be now, as I wait eagerly for the other "Eragon" movies. Yes, I'm sure there will be and I hope for maybe three movies ( Series movies usually come in three ). You can buy the books at Audible, Amazon, and other fine booksellers.
"Eragon" is truly an epic story like "The Lord of the Rings" and "Star Wars". If you watched "Eragon" already, you know. If you haven't watched it yet, well what are you waiting for? The movie is visually stunning. The flights of the Dragon, Rider and all, were just a feast for the eyes and spirit. I could almost feel the wind, as they flew over the Earth. The battle scenes up to and including the final, epic battle were awesomely done. The scenes leading up to the epic battle were filled with courage, purpose, and heart. Awesome movie and did I say I'm waiting for the next one.
Yes. And what makes me think there will be a next one? Three reasons. One. The producers, actors, and the rest managed to teleport me into the movie ( You know the feeling ). Two. The theater was full and I had to wait in a good size line to get a ticket. Three. The total US Gross of $40,196,000 ( Provided by Movie Web ), The audience and money are there.
One last comment I'd like to make. I usually stay and watch the credits but this time I stayed not just for the credits but for the music. I wanted to hear the song play. This is one soundtrack I will be buying.
